In December 2003, Marsilio Editori published the volume by Orietta Lanzarini entitled Carlo Scarpa. L’architetto e le arti, devoted to Carlo Scarpa’s collaboration with the Venice Biennale from 1948 to 1972. This book represents one of the first expressions of the activity promoted by the Comitato Paritetico Stato Regione (Joint State-Region Committee) for the understanding and appreciation of the corpus linked to Carlo Scarpa.

The Comitato, formed in November 2001 by the Italian Ministery for Cultural Goods and Activities and by the Veneto Region, provides for the participation of important institutions such as the DARC - Direzione Generale per l’Architettura e l’Arte Contemporanee, the Direzione Cultura della Regione Veneto, the Istituto Universitario di Architettura of Venice, the Museo di Castelvecchio of Verona, the Centro Internazionale di Studi di Architettura Andrea Palladio of Vicenza, and the Società La Rocca of Monselice.

In addition, the Veneto Region, in collaboration with Mak of Vienna, organized the November 2003 symposium Carlo Scarpa. L’architetto e il suo mestiere (Carlo Scarpa: The Architect and His Work). This event was held on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the architect’s death, and in concomitance with the exhibition Carlo Scarpa. Il fare architettura (Carlo Scarpa. Being an Architect).

Among the initiatives begun in 2002, promoted by the Joint Committee and financed by the Veneto Region, the following were entrusted to the Museo di Castelvecchio:
· The formation of a computerized archive of the drawings of Carlo Scarpa relative to Castlevecchio, soon to be available on line.
· A number of significant maintenance interventions to the Scarpian contributions to the Museum, now underway.
· The architectonic survey of Castelvecchio, to be realized shortly.
· The publication of the comprehensive catalogue of Carlo Scarpa drawings relative to the renovation of Castelvecchio, to be realized in 2005.
