Combined with the MACís, the Contemporary Art Museum of the French Community, Grand-Hornu Images has been involved since 20 years in the setting up of design and heritage exhibitions. Most recent events were the Ingo Maurerís Vitra exhibition, Garouste and Bonetti, Matali Crasset and Arne Jacobsen. Within ęLabel-Design.beĽ, the visitor is going to be able to discover a selection of 330 pieces created by 135 designers and design studios working in Belgium and abroad over the past five years.

With a scenography of Winston Spriet playing on the spectrum of colours, the exhibition curated by Lise Coirier (also partner in the EDF network with Pro Materia) is giving a particular tribute to Maarten Van Severen who left us last February. His profile as a designer mixed to art and architecture reveals well the diversity and flexibility that Belgian designers provide at a local and international levels in terms of creativity.

The reputation of a number of belgian designers prove the high quality level of design of the country. Think about Dirk Van Braeckel, Luc Donckerwolcke and Steve Crijns for the automobile sector, Claire Bataille & Paul ibens, Alain Berteau, Casimir, Xavier Lust, Maxime Szyf, Maarten Van Severen, Vincent Van Duysen, Clem Van Himbeek, Danny Venlet who have gained an international recognition through well-known brands such as MDF Italia, B&B, Driade, Nike, Vitra... By choosing to display interior products as well as engineering and products connected to mobility and public spaces, the common public will clearly understand the idea that design is everywhere around us and is or can positively influence our way and quality of life.
