March 19 - June 27, 2004

The Museum für Kunst und Gewerbe in Hamburg is showing designs and sketches from furniture designer Peter Maly from March 19 until June 27, 2004. The creative process can be experienced not only through sketches in the exhibition "Peter Maly - Sketched Design", but various models are also presented with the example of four originals in their development from ideas to realized versions.

The 230 exhibits - from freehand sketches to computer renderings - do not place the furniture in the foreground of the show but rather the ideas behind them. Alongside the sketches showing the development process visitors can see large-scale coloured works on paper serving as presentation material of the furniture designs to the manufacturer and, later on, in showrooms.

Peter Maly was a member of the editorial team of "Schöner Wohnen" for ten years. Since 1970 he has been running his own design studio in Hamburg. He became famous, above all, for his furniture designs for manufacturers like COR, Interlübke or ligne roset, but he also designs trade show architecture, exhibitions and showrooms and conceives interior design studios.
